Life story of 4 sisters of Thai ethnicity in Nam La village, Na Ban commune, Mai Son, Son La

… “Mrs Lo Thi Loa was born in 1983, Thai ethnicity, married in 2000 in Nam La village, Na Ban, Mai Son, Son La. Then, she gave birth to her first daughter, Lo Thi Diep, who was born in 2004, currently an eighth-grader of Na Ban Secondary School, Na Ban, Mai Son, Son La. She then gave birth to three more children (Lo Thi Huong Giang, born in 2006, now a sixth-grader, Lo Thi Linh Chi, born in 2008, now a fourth-grader, Lo Chinh Hao, born in 2012, now goes to kindergarten). She thought she could live happily with her husband, who is a farmer. However, in 2015, a disaster fell on her family. Her husband suffered from cancer and died shortly after that. She ran out of money after having sold everything in her home.

She is left with her children, her 80-year-old mother-in-law, and debt. She works on sugarcane cultivation, but farming is so unreliable. Sometimes she gets hired while sometimes she doesn’t. The family of six, many of which are elderly people and children, of Ms. Loa is suffering.

In return, her children are very good, very keen to learn, but the road to her school is so tough. Lo Thi Huong Giang is very hardworking, has good sense of learning, and teachers said she has the ability to learn quick, so she almost achieves Excellent Student. Her dream is not to leave school to stay at home but to go to high school, even if she has to wear ugly clothes (her winter uniforms are too old now)

I write this letter hoping I can find sponsors to help the 4 siblings, so the children can continue to go to school….”
